Rude's Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Barbara Borstad was born on September 23, 1922, in Ireton, IA, the daughter of George and "Birdie" (Stewart) Noon. Barb received her education in Dist. #29 in Deuel County, SD, and was a graduate of the Tyler High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Bennie R. Borstad on October 10, 1940, in Rock Rapids, IA. After their marriage they lived in Hawarden, IA for several years and Manson, IA before moving to Brookings, SD. She was employed at various places throughout her life, including the Bowling Alley, Edgebrook Golf Course and Kjellsen Chevrolet for several years. She retired in 1983. Bennie died on September 21, 1994, in Sioux Falls, SD. She was later employed with the Brookings School Dist. in the lunch room until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brookings, Ladies Circle, VFW Auxiliary and the Brookings Country Club. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, embroidering and especially spending time with her family and friends. She was inducted into the Brookings Bowling Association Hall of Fame and also served on the state Bowling Board for five years. She was also a member of the Brookings Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family Barbara is survived by two daughters, Donna (Paul) DeVoss of Powell, WY, Deborah (Keven) Perry of Brookings, SD; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren, with another baby on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three daughters, Rachel, Karen and Bonnie; five brothers, Edward, Franklin, Charles, John and William, and four sisters, Mary, Florence, Frances, and Margaret. Barb's family would like to thank those at The Neighborhoods at Brookview and StoneyBrook Assisted Living for their loving care of Barb through her final years. - Rudes Funeral Home
