Description	:	Barbara, daughter of John and Mary McClain, was born in Bedford County, Pa., Feb. 29, 1824, and died in Clay Township, Harrison County, Mo., Oct. 22, 1905, aged 81 years, 7 months and 23 days. She was married to Jacob Osborn Nov. 30, 1848. Their union was blessed with five children, four sons and one daughter. Read More	Barbara, daughter of John and Mary McClain, was born in Bedford County, Pa., Feb. 29, 1824, and died in Clay Township, Harrison County, Mo., Oct. 22, 1905, aged 81 years, 7 months and 23 days. She was married to Jacob Osborn Nov. 30, 1848. Their union was blessed with five children, four sons and one daughter. The sons are all living but the daughter, who was the youngest of the family, died at the age of 34 years. With her husband and family she moved to Jefferson County, Iowa, in 1843, and two years later to Decatur County, where, in 1861, she was called to mourn the loss of her husband. Thus to her widowhood she was left alone with the care of her children to whom she was tenderly devoted, and by hard work and great self denial she succeeded in prospering until they grew to maturity. She was converted to God in early life and lived a faithful and Christian life until she heard the Master's summons to join the host of the redeemed in Glory. Because of removals to different localities she was a member first of the Winbrenarian, then the United Methodist Episcopal Churches. As her time to departure drew near she was blessedly relieved from pain and would frequently smile and say, "I am feeling better." As long as she could make herself understood she would speak of the visions of heavenly beauty that arose before her mind. Her end was peace and she rests among the redeemed of the Lord of whom it is written, "He giveth his beloved sleep." The funeral was in the home and she was buried in the McClain cemetery.
