Description	:	Daughter of Neil Munn & Barbara Campbell. Married on 3 Oct 1877. According to the book "Families Buried in Salem Cemetery, Elderslie Township 1857-1979" by Mary I MacKay, p.160-163: Dan and Barbara took over the home farm and his parents lived with them until they died. Dan was a successful farmer and continued as clerk of the township until 1892 when he was appointed governor of the county jail. Donald and Barbara and their five children moved to Walkerton. Dan was a successful farmer and continued as clerk of the township until 1892 when he was appointed governor of the county jail. Donald and Barbara and their five children moved to Walkerton. Two more children were born there. Barbara was appointed matron of the jail. They filled their positions very efficiently for thirty years. During her long term as matron of the jail, Barbara met with and befriended a long list of unfortunates, and many a chap who came into jail "down-and-out", left the institution with his self-esteem restored and determined to make a new start in life, through her motherly care and wholesome advise. "Doing unto the least of these" was an injunction she religiously carried out. She was held in kindly remembrance by reformed convicts from sea to sea. During the war she took a keen interest in the welfare of the boys at the front, and through I.O.D.E. of which she was a member, sent on many comforts to Bruce youths helping to hold the line in Flanders. Barbara was also a life member of the Women's Mission Circle and an active member for many years of the Women's Institute. In the spring of 1923, Donald retired as jailer and was appointed Deputy Sheriff of Bruce County. Dan and Barbara moved out of the jail residence into one half of a double house across the street from the jail. After four months illness of heart trouble, Barbara Munn McKechnie died on February 24, 1931, age 72. Donald continued as sheriff until 1934 when he retired in his 85th year. He died April 20, 1940, age 93 years, 6 months. Donald & Barbara had seven children: 1. Margaret Elda Orr, 1878-1956, did not marry 2. Barbara Isabel, 1880-1903, married William Archibald Tolton 3. Neil, 1881-1942, married Frances Gillespie 4. Mary Catherine, 1884-1936, married Herbert Langtry Manning 5. Malcolm Archibald, 1889-1918, died in France in WWI 6. Donalda, 1893-1963, married Clarence Lorne Fraser 7. Victor Alexander, 1897-1953, married Lillian Miller, then Francella Garrison
