He was the grandson of Barnabas Ray & Lydia (Truitt) Ray. He was married April 1, 1899, to Minnie Simmons. To this union were born nine children, two girls and one boy having preceded him in death. Two grandchildren, Mary and Kenneth; also two brothers, Henry of Peru and Ed of Des Moines, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was a kind husband and a loving father. Jack, as he was called by all who knew him had been a patient sufferer for more than a year, until death relieved him of his suffering.
