Read More	Frederick News-Post (Frederick, Maryland) March 21, 1983 Mr. Basil B. Burdette, 83, a well-known Damascus resident, died Saturday, March 19, at his home. He was the husband of the late Emily Lorraine Moxley Burdette. Born June 9, 1899, in Damascus, he was a son of the late Claude H. and Sara Rebecca Boyer Burdette. Mr. Burdette was the treasurer of the Damascus Motor Co. where he had been an accountant since 1929. He was a charter member, life member and former treasurer of the Damascus Lions Club, a charter member and life member of the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department and had served as treasurer for 30 years and was in the Hall of Fame of the Montgomery County Fireman's Association. He was also a member and a former treasurer of the Damascus United Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gaithersburg. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Day, Kemptown, and Mrs. Catherine Pearce, Damascus; three brothers, Claude Burdette of Damascus, John Burdette of Frederick and Charles Burdette of Gaithersburg, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 21, at the Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, Damascus. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Damascus United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marcus Earp and the Rev. Glen Dameron will officiate. Interment will be in the Damascus Cemetery.
