Adams Dies Unexpectedly [photo] BASIL G. ADAMS Basil G. Adams, 51, prominent Waterville businessman, died unexpectedly while on a business trip in Portland Wednesday afternoon. He was born in Oakland July 30, 1914, the son of the late Alfred and Gladys Vandine Adams. He was a member of the Waterville Elks Lodge, a past director and vice president of the Waterville Country Club, and had been club champion several Times. He was one of the better golfers in the state. Prior to organizing the Waterville Window Company, of which he was the proprietor, he was in the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years. He also organized Carefree Homes and Gamco, Inc. In 1958 he purchased a section of the former Lockwood-Dutches property which was later sold to Kennebec Mills, Inc. He is survived by his widow, Margaret Garrit Adams of Winslow; Mrs. James (Nancy) Morissette of Waterville and Mrs. Gerald (Linda) King of Caribou; two grandchildren; five brothers, Leo (Ted) Adams of Waterville, Murray Adams of Long Island, N.Y.; Roy Adams of Cape Elizabeth, Richard Adams of Waterville and Earl Adams of South Portland; one sister, Mrs. Phyllis Fenderson of Falmouth Foreside. Funeral services will be held at the Redington Funeral Home Saturday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Ellis Holt of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to Ray Lemieux, Federal Trust Company, for youth work in which Mr. Adams was interested.
