Her hobbies included gardening, stamp collecting, spoon collecting, postcard of state capitals, and crossword puzzles. Bauwina McKee Services for Bauwina (Vena) McKee, 93, Chapin, will be held at 1:30 P.M. today, Thursday, August 20 at West Fork United Methodist Church, rural Sheffield. The Reverend Ed Clevenger will officiate. Burial will be in West Fork Cemetery. Mrs. McKee died Tuesday, August 18, 1992, at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton. She was born September 29, 1898, in Nieuw Beerta, The Netherlands, Holland, to William and Fannie (Hartog) Van Horn. She attended schools in Nieuw Beerta. On May 7, 1919 she married Willie McKee at Hansell. She was a member of the West Fork United Methodist Church and the Chat-a-While Club. She enjoyed gardening and cross word puzzles, and collected stamps, spoons and post cards of state capitals. Survivors include four sons; Wilbur of Aredale, Harold and Marvin both of Chapin, and Robert of Waterloo; two daughters, Irene Anonson of Charles City and Lorraine Schrock of Lawrence, Kansas; 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and five brothers. BAUWINA MC KEE Mrs. Willie (Bauwina "Vena") McKee, 93, of Chapin, mother of Harold and Marvin McKee of Chapin, and Wilbur McKee of Aredale, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, 1992, in Franklin General Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 20, at 1:30 p.m. in the West Fork United Methodist Church, with Rev. Edward Clevenger officiating. Interment was made in the West Fork Cemetery. Bauwina Van Horn, sixth child of William and Fannie (Hartog) Van Horn, was born Sept. 29, 1898, at Nieuw Beerta, Netherland, Holland. She received her education in the schools in Holland. At the age of thirteen she along with her family moved to Parkersburg, Iowa, later to the Dumont area, then farmed in the West Fork area. She was united in marriage to Willie McKee on May 7, 1919, at Hansell. Six children were born to this union. She was a member of the West Fork United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Chat-A-While Club. Her hobbies included gardening, stamp collecting, spoon collecting, post cards of State Capitols, cross word puzzles, and her family. She was the last of the nine children of the Van Horn family. She and her son, Harold, retired to Chapin several years ago. Surviving are four sons; Wilbur of Aredale, Harold and Marvin of Chapin, Robert of Waterloo; two daughters, Irene Aronson of Charles City, Lorraine Schrock of Lawrence, Kans.; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; 1 great great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie McKee, on Nov. 5, 1973; three sisters; five brothers.
