Description	:	Beatrice A. "Bea" (Whitwer) Petsche, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to her Savior on April 20, 2013 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Beatrice was born on the family farm on January 18, 1916, two miles west of Tilden, Nebraska. Beatrice was the first of two children born to Will and Beulah (Peirce) Whitwer. Beatrice was born on the family farm on January 18, 1916, two miles west of Tilden, Nebraska. Beatrice was the first of two children born to Will and Beulah (Peirce) Whitwer. Bea attended Antelope County (NE.) District #34, and graduated from Tilden (NE.) High School in May of 1934. While in high school, Beatrice was accompanist for all music groups. In 1935, she attended Sioux Falls (S.D.) Baptist College in South Dakota, and the University College of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, and was a nursing aide at the Tilden (NE.) Hospital. Beatrice married Richard B. Petsche in 1938. One child, Jan K. Allard, was born to this union. Beatrice was baptized in 1925 by the Reverend A.C. Downing. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tilden, Nebraska for 46 years. In 1971, Bea and Richard both joined the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She read her Bible daily and talked faithfully with her Lord. Bea sold Avon for 46 years so she could care for her husband who had multiple sclerosis. She served as pianist, choir director, superintendent of Sunday School, and sponsored the youth group at First Baptist. At Immanuel Lutheran, Bea was a member of the choir, Ladies Aid, and attended Sunday School. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Women's Club, and Antelope County Historical Society. Bea was also a member of the OSH Club. In 1950, she joined the T.A.O. Club, of which her mother was a charter member. Bea experienced almost a century of exciting American life - everything from horse-drawn wagons to a man on the moon; from President Woodrow Wilson to President Barak Obama; through the Depression and several wars; from electricity and telephone to computers; from bloomers to slacks; from youth to great-grandmother; she did it all and did it well. In August of 1981, Bea accepted recognition of the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award from the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben, Omaha, in honor of her family owning the homestead for 100 years. Bernard and Minnie Whitwer originally bought the land before selling it to Bea's parents in October of 1919. In November of 1949, Bea and Richard Petsche bought the homestead themselves and proudly continued the family legacy. Bea was an avid writer of letters and cards to her friends and family. She always enjoyed playing cards or Bingo, and gave compliments, encouragement, and hugs to us all. Bea is survived by: daughter, Jan K. Allard, and friend, Roger E. Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Debra J. Patchen and John R. (Wendy) Patchen of Lincoln; great-granddaughters, Jennifer K. Patchen of Berkley, California, and Shelby B. Klepper of Seward, Nebraska; great-grandsons, Benjamin W. Gustafson, and Brendan J. Patchen of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Stanley Petsche of Clarkson, Nebraska; sister-in-laws, Esther Petsche of Petersburg, Nebraska and Florence Knievel of Neligh, Nebraska and a host of relatives and friends. Bea was preceded in death by: husband, Richard B. Petsche in 1975; parents, Will Whitwer (in 1961) and Beulah Whitwer (in 1980); sister, Vera M. Klentz; son-in-laws, George W. Patchen and James W. Allard; father-in-law and mother-in-law; one brother-in-law; and four sister-in-laws. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Tilden, Nebraska.
