Description	:	Beatrice Emily Nelson was born 28 January 1911 in Roundup, Montana. She was the third child of Henry and Mildred (Izer) Nelson. In her early years she was raised on a homestead in Montana where she learned the value of hard work. She also learned about misfortune when she was four, when her sister Evelyn died at the age of eight of scarlet fever. Read More	Beatrice Emily Nelson was born 28 January 1911 in Roundup, Montana. She was the third child of Henry and Mildred (Izer) Nelson. In her early years she was raised on a homestead in Montana where she learned the value of hard work. She also learned about misfortune when she was four, when her sister Evelyn died at the age of eight of scarlet fever. This left her and her beloved older brother Everett with their mother on the ranch. Her father spent most of his time in town away from the family and her parent's marriage eventually ended when Beatrice was ten years old. Her family moved around a lot during her youth but she still managed to graduate valedictorian of her high school class. Beatrice joined her brother Everett when he went to medical school while she worked for the state department of health in Minnesota. They shared an apartment together and forged a strong bond that lasted their entire lives. Beatrice later followed her mother out to the North West when her mother and step-father retired from the railroad. She attended university and studied to become a nurse. During World War II she met her future husband, George L. Gregg, on a blind date. On their first date George took her to a boxing match where he was refereeing. He had been a Golden Gloves prize fighter before the war. He wanted to make sure that she would still be there after the fight so he had her hold on to his tie to be sure that he would see her again. Beatrice always said that she felt so comfortable with him like she had known him her whole life. They were both thirty when they fell in love, got married and had a beautiful relationship that lasted fifty-five years until George passed away in 1997. Beatrice started working for Ford Motor Company in the early 1950’s, working in data entry. She retired after 25 years of service at Ford. During her life she had three children with her husband, one daughter dying at birth. She had a very close and loving relationship with her mother throughout her life and traveled from Seattle to Tacoma to visit her every weekend. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a kind and considerate grandmother and doting great grandmother. She was a very generous and giving person; doing everything she could to help her family at all times. She was a wonderful person who will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, George L. Gregg, Jr. (recently deceased), and Robert G. Gregg of Moorpark, CA, grandchildren, Heather, Farrah, Priscilla, Emily and Matthew Gregg, and great-grandchildren, Michael, Landon and Lavinia. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 12:30pm at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial Chapel, with burial following at Washington Memorial Park.
