Description	:	Beatrice “Bette” Louise Lint, 88, passed away on September 15, 2020. She fought a long-time battle with Alzheimer’s and is now free from this awful disease and at peace. Bette was born January 16, 1932 to Louis and Grace (Routson) Archer; one of seven siblings. She attended and graduated from Van Meter Community School in 1950 where she met Don Heldenbrand. She fought a long-time battle with Alzheimer’s and is now free from this awful disease and at peace. Bette was born January 16, 1932 to Louis and Grace (Routson) Archer; one of seven siblings. She attended and graduated from Van Meter Community School in 1950 where she met Don Heldenbrand. The two married the same year and to this union four children were born, Sheila, Sandy, Shirley and Nathan. Bette lived in Van Meter on a couple different farms during her life but settled northwest of Van Meter when she met her true love, Theodore Lint. The two were married in 1974 and enjoyed life together until Ted’s death in 2006. After his death, her Alzheimer’s began, due to her broken heart. Bette was able to live at home for several years with help from others. Bette was a hard worker; a really hard worker. She was a homemaker but also worked at Palmer’s Grocery Store in Van Meter. She also worked for Home Care in Adel for many years. She loved caring for people. She was a strong, kind and gentle soul. Her children and grandchildren remember her as a fun mom and grandma. She would often let them eat dessert before dinner and would have spur of the moment picnics on the living room floor. Bette and her children often went hiking and exploring around their land, timber and creek. They named a large boulder, “Elephant Rock”, which still remains on the land where her daughters, Sandy and Shirley, live today. She was also an animal lover. There was always a dog, cat, pig, or rabbit to play with at her house. Bette and Ted were avid gardeners. The tomatoes and pumpkins they produced would be State Fair winners today. Bette also loved flowers. In the winter, when all the plants were gone, she would stick bright colored silk flowers in the snow to make the world a little more beautiful. Bette was a Godly woman her entire life and a devoted member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Winterset. She and her husband, Ted, did a lot of volunteer work for the unfortunate. They would collect and distribute for the food pantry and Bette continued to volunteer for the around town food pantry. She also enjoyed her work as a volunteer medic for the Van Meter Fire Rescue and enjoyed working at Dallas County Home Care for over 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her parents, Louis and Grace; siblings, Lee Archer, Dorothy Shambaugh and Lois Martin. Bette is survived by her children, Sheila (Steve), Sandy (Gary), Shirley (Bob) and Nathan (Marla); grandchildren, Jessica (Wes), Nick (Wendy), Jason, Hugh (Lela), and Devon (Seth); great-grandchildren, Zane, Blake, Harry, Edythe and Hazel; siblings, Evan, James (Karen), and Carolyn (Bill); also her furry best friend, Julie. A visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2020 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends during this time. A funeral service will be held immediately following, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Van Meter Cemetery. Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home
