Fahey Beatrice M. Fahey, 92, of Waukon, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, with the Rev. Allen Schmitt officiating. Casket bearers were Mike Heffern; Kevin, Jack, Duane, Kary and Darrel Schulte; and Michael, David, Daniel, Brian, Brandon and Jeremy Fahey. Burial was at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Martin Funeral Home handled arrangements. Beatrice Mary (Magner) Fahey was born Sept. 23, 1908, on the West Ridge area farm of her parents, William and Catherine (Carolan) Magner. She attended grade school in DECORAH and graduated from St. Columbkille's Academy in Dubuque. After school, she spent time in Richmond, Ind., helping in the home of some extended family. On Sept. 6, 1933, she married Emmett Fahey at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. Together, they farmed in Union Prairie Township before moving to Waukon in 1976. Bea was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Jude Study Club. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends. She also liked to travel, taking trips throughout the United States and to Ireland, Italy and France. Survivors include two daughters, Jean and Greg Schulte of Cedar Rapids, and Joan Heffern of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Patrick and Ann Fahey of Brownsville, Minn., and James Fahey of DECORAH; 23 grandchildren; 42 greatgrandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Loretta Magner of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and Marie Magner of Marion. Beatrice Fahey was preceded in death by her, parents; her husband, Emmett, who died May 19, 1984; a son-in-law, Donald Heffern; a grandchild, Reginald Schulte; and brothers Leo and wife Emily, John and wife Elizabeth, Urban and wife Lillian, Walter and Paul Magner.
