She was born Nov. 18, 1919, at Hunter to the late William J. and Ethel Shaner Penrose. She entered the Waves in 1945 and was a pharmacist's mate working in occupational therapy when discharged from the Navy in 1946. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor of science degree and from San Jose State College at San Jose, Calif., with a masters degree. Read More	BEATRICE GRACE DARDANELLE -- Beatrice Penrose Grace, 84, of Dardanelle died Thursday, Nov. 27, at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born Nov. 18, 1919, at Hunter to the late William J. and Ethel Shaner Penrose. She entered the Waves in 1945 and was a pharmacist's mate working in occupational therapy when discharged from the Navy in 1946. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor of science degree and from San Jose State College at San Jose, Calif., with a masters degree. She retired from teaching in 1981 after teaching home economics for 41 years at Alma, Mansfield, Havana, Dardanelle and Campbell, Calif. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church at Dardanelle, Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society of Teachers, life member of the National Garden Club and member of Gum Springs Extension Club. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Frank Grace; a sister, Jane King of Forrest City; a brother, Robert Penrose of Walnut Creek, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dardanelle Funeral Service officiated by the Rev. Joe Yates and the Rev. Glenn Nicholson. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery at Dardanelle under the direction of Dardanelle Funeral Service. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund or your favorite charity.
