Description	:	Ben F. Fecht, 81, of Amherst, died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society St. John’s in Kearney. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Riverdale Christian Church with Pastor Scott Guthrie officiating. Burial will be at Bainbridge Cemetery in Huntley, Nebraska. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of the arrangements. Ben was born February 9, 1934 in Ragan to Behrend and Nettie (McArthur) Fecht. He grew up in the Huntley area and graduated from Huntley Consolidated School in 1951. Ben married Mary Riley on July 18, 1954 in Alma. While living in Nebraska Ben worked at various grain elevators, B.D. in Holdrege, Harlan County Road Department, T and F Sand and Gravel, and Dannehl’s as a feed and seed salesman until retiring in 1996. Ben was a member of the Riverdale Christian Church, where he served as an elder from 1985 until 2007. He was made an honorary elder until his death. Ben’s hobbies included finishing antiques and gardening. He was always willing to share his produce with family and friends. Also, he enjoyed playing cards, watching Husker football and volleyball, and putting jigsaw puzzles together in his spare time. Ben is survived by his wife Mary of Amherst; sons, Randal Fecht and wife Carol of Oxford, NE, Ronald Fecht of Holyoke, CO; daughters, Roxie Gibb and husband Rick of Atlants, NE, Rae Lynn Johnson and husband Jeff of Amherst; sister, Margaret Johnson of Wheatridge, CO; brother Don Fecht and wife Phyllis of Wilcox, NE; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Ben was preceded in death by three brothers, Roger, Delmar, and Eugene; two sisters Ruth Ann Curts and Pauline Fecht; and infant granddaughter Leisa Ranae Kehl.
