Morning Olympia, Jun 22, 1939: Miss Ella Belle Dodge, 49, native daughter of Thurston County, whose father, Robt Bruce Dodge was among the earliest of Thurston County pioneers, died at her home at Gate at midnight, Wednesday. Miss Dodge was born at Littlerock, February 2, 1890 and after attendance at the local schools entered the Bellingham Normal School from which she was later graduated. Sisters are Mrs. Emelia Cole of Olympia; Mrs. Olive Gillett of Cle Elum; Mrs. Grace Ploeger of Ellensburg; Mrs. Sophrona Knapp of Gate, and Mrs. Mary Stroup of Seattle. Funeral services will be held from the Mills and Mills Chapel, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. W. W. White of Centralia, officiating, with interment in the IOOF Cemetery.
