Description	:	COWARD — Mrs. Belva Ham Lee, widow of Wilbur James WJ Lee died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at her residence after an illness. Mrs. Lee was born April 21, 1922, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Carrie McLaughlin Ham Conner and Myers L. Ham. She was a graduate of McClenaghan High School and South Carolina Commercial College in Florence. She was an active member of Sand Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School from the primary to adult class and was Sword Drill Leader at the church. Mrs. Lee also served as Church Clerk and Treasurer... Read More	COWARD — Mrs. Belva Ham Lee, widow of Wilbur James WJ Lee died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at her residence after an illness. Mrs. Lee was born April 21, 1922, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Carrie McLaughlin Ham Conner and Myers L. Ham. She was a graduate of McClenaghan High School and South Carolina Commercial College in Florence. She was an active member of Sand Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School from the primary to adult class and was Sword Drill Leader at the church. Mrs. Lee also served as Church Clerk and Treasurer for over 25 years and was a WAC District officer. She was a member of the Gideon Auxiliary and a past Worthy Grand Matron in the Eastern Star. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory are her four (4) children: Sandra (Sherrill) Lee of Aberdeen, NC, Gerald (Jackie) Lee of Effingham, Ritchie (Gwen) Lee of Coward, and Linda (Ronald) Matthews, also of Coward; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Justus of Mt. Pleasant. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Myers L. Ham, Jr., and two sisters, Billie Rosseler and Evelyn Atkinson. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Sand Hill Free Will Baptist Church with burial in Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 12, 2009, in Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC, and at other times in the home. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P. O. Box 1263, Lake City, SC 29560, or Sand Hill Free Will Baptist Church, P. O. Box 240, Coward, SC 29530. The family would like to give a special thanks to the caretakers who gave such loving care to her.
