Description	:	Belva Jean Robertson Hoffmann was born August 3, 1926 in Gregory, SD, the oldest child in the family of Paul and Pearle (Fenenga) Robertson. She spent her childhood in different locations on farms in the area, riding her horse to country school and enjoying summers with her grandparents. She graduated from Gregory High School and then attended Beauty School in Watertown. Read More	Belva Jean Robertson Hoffmann was born August 3, 1926 in Gregory, SD, the oldest child in the family of Paul and Pearle (Fenenga) Robertson. She spent her childhood in different locations on farms in the area, riding her horse to country school and enjoying summers with her grandparents. She graduated from Gregory High School and then attended Beauty School in Watertown. After Belva finished Beauty School she married Henry Hoffmann on January 5, 1947 and six children were born to this marriage. They lived on several farms in the area until they were able to buy a farm � mile north of Paxton which became home to the family for the next 20 years. During the last few years, she worked for Gregory Bakery and the Gregory School as a cook. They moved to Springfield, SD in 1975 after they had sold the farm. In Springfield Belva was employed as a cook at a school until it closed. She then began working at Chicago Rawhide factory, where she operated several machines making engine seals. Belva & Henry also managed Valley View Apartments. Belva and Henry loved to travel. They traveled together going to Germany and Holland. They also traveled extensively throughout the United States including Alaska. They enjoyed going on two Caribbean Cruises with family. After retirement in 1991, they returned to Gregory. Belva finally had time to pursue some new challenges. She refinished furniture, she loved to sew, garden, try out new recipes as well as bake bread and cakes. She loved to bake for family gatherings and was famous for her cinnamon rolls and pies. Belva enjoyed embroidering and made quilts for each of her children. She was faithful in attending the worship services in her church. Her husband died in 2007 and Belva has been in declining health since that time. She passed away on October 27, 2010 at the age of 84 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, her parents, one son Paul, two infant children, and two granddaughters Staci and Talina. Surviving are her five children: Kathy (Steve) Matthes of Gregory, SD,,Alta (Jerry) Byg of Ames, IA, Rose (Dieter) Marick of Huron, SD, Tina (Rick) Jones of Copperas Cove, TX and Michael (Lynda) Hoffmann of Omaha, NE , and by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and by a daughter-in-law Regina Hoffmann of Omaha, NE, two brothers: Teen Donald Robertson of Mishawaka, IN and Paul Doyle Robertson of Dallas, SD, and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
