Petersen was born April 4, 1925 on a farm west of Milford to Bert and Elsie (Yeackley) Stutzman, the oldest of five children and passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Seward Memorial Hospital in Seward at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 24 days. As a young girl she attended Country School District 47 and Milford Public Schools. Belva worked at various jobs in Lincoln prior to her marriage to H.L. As a young girl she attended Country School District 47 and Milford Public Schools. Belva worked at various jobs in Lincoln prior to her marriage to H.L. "Pete" Petersen on August 24, 1948, in Milford, and they were blessed with an adopted son, Bob, in 1954. Together they made their home in Milford where Belva was a busy homemaker and also a bookkeeper for Petersen's Apartments. Belva attended Grace Missionary Church. She and Pete enjoyed many winters in Coolidge, AZ and together played golf and bingo. Belva loved to raise flowers and working in her flower garden. Belva had a passion for the Lincoln City Mission and loved to help others with their needs. She was a kind, loving, gentle woman and will be missed by many. Belva is survived by her son, Bob, Lincoln, and granddaughter, Amber Petersen, Broomfield, CO, brothers and sisters-in-law, Merle and Arlene Stutzman, Lois Riley, all of Milford, Joan Stutzman, Denver, CO, Richard Stutzman, Lincoln, several sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Belva was preceded in death by her husband, Pete in 2008, granddaughter, Candice Petersen, brothers-in-law, Ferman Riley and Ellis Stutzman. Interment was in Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford, Nebraska.
