He was the son of James Clark Gibbs and Alice Virginia Hughes. He married Lena Etta Binau 24 June 1919 in Allerton, Wayne Co., IA. After Ben and Lena married, they lived on the west edge of Allerton. Read More	Ben Alexander Gibbs was born Corydon Clay Twp., Wayne Co., IA 2 November 1892. Delayed birth certificate issued by State of Iowa in 1942. He was the son of James Clark Gibbs and Alice Virginia Hughes. He married Lena Etta Binau 24 June 1919 in Allerton, Wayne Co., IA. After Ben and Lena married, they lived on the west edge of Allerton. Ben worked at several jobs. He and Dolph, Ben's brother, owned and opeated a steam thrashing rig for a time. He also worked on the railroad a short time. Ben worked for Karl Binau, Lena's brother, as a mechanic, working on some of the early automobiles and farm machinery. Ben was a farmer at heart. They had two children: Rex W. (Violet) Gibbs and Margaret ( Paul) Freeman. He married Hildah Barbour 21 Nov. 1944. Ben died at 9:50 p.m. 13 February 1967 in Des Moines, Polk Co., IA at the age of 74 years 3 months and 11 days. Ben was a veteran of World War I. Funeral Services were held at 2 P.M. from Randolph Funeral home. He had been 38 days in the hospital. Ben died of Carcinoma of the right lung. His body was interred 17 February 1967 in Allerton, Wayne Co., IA, Allerton Cemetery.
