Brown, a resident of Plymouth County for the past forty years, died at his home, 1040 Central Avenue, SE, at one o'clock Tuesday after a very brief illness. BROWN IS DEAD Well Known Farmer Succumbs to Brief Illness Ben L. Brown, a resident of Plymouth County for the past forty years, died at his home, 1040 Central Avenue, SE, at one o'clock Tuesday after a very brief illness. Mr. Brown apparently in the beat of health, suffered a slight stroke of apoplexy Thursday and on Saturday suffered another stroke from which he never rallied and passed away without regaining consciousness. Ben L. Brown was born at Lanark, Ill., November 1, 1860, where he received his early education and grew to manhood, assisting his father on the farm. He was united in marriage February 18, 1885, with Miss Marie Wolford, the wedding taking place at Mount Carroll, Ill They came to Le Mars the month following their wedding and have been residents here ever since. They farmed in Washington township until they came to Le Mars five years ago and established a home. Mr. Brown was an able, active and energetic farmer and by hard work, good management and foresight, made a success in his chosen calling, assisted greatly by his wife and sons, the latter of whom are continuing the conduct of their two fine farms. Ben Brown was a man of sterling qualities and a splendid type of citizen, honorable, straightforward and courteous in all his dealings with other men. He was a loving husband and father, a good neighborn and not critical of men whose opinions might differ from those he held. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, and two sons, Charles Brown and Lester Brown, of Washington twonship. On daughter, Carrie, receded him in death at the age of 20 years. There are six grandchildren. He is also mourned by three brothers, Goerge Brown of this city, O. C. Brown, of Hinton, and Charles P. Brown, of Fonda. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the residence, 1040 Central Avenue SE, and services were conducted at Hildreth Memorial church, the pastor, Rev. J. W. Davis, officiating.
