Description	:	Services for Ben Veenstra, 76, of Pella, who died Aug. 29, 1994 at Pella Community Hospital, were held September 1 at Calvary Christian Reformed Church. Garden Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Peoria Cemetery, Peoria. The Revs. Thomas Dykstra and Siebert Kramer officiated at the services. Music was provided by Lillian Nikkei, organist, and Larry Eggink, vocalist. Pallbearers were Gamck Stryker, Darrell, Joel, and Bernie Veenstra, Matthew Boender, Gaylord De Jong, and Dennis Van Wyk. Mr. Veenstra was born June 4, 1918 at the family farm north of Peoria, the son of John L. and Carrie Vander Molen Veenstra. He graduated from Peoria Christian Grade School in 1932. He worked for area farmers until joining the service in 1942. On March 27, 1946, he married Gretta Van Wyk at the home of her parents near New Sharon. They lived on and farmed the Veenstra family farm until 1980 when they retired and moved into Pella. He was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church. He had served on the Peoria Christian School Board, served as an elder at both the Peoria Christian Reformed and Calvary Churches, and was a member of the Men's Societies. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; one son, Jerry, and his wife Rita of Lynnville; two daughters, Mrs Glen (Betty) Stryker of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Mrs. Alan (Joyce) Boender of Pella; seven grandchildren; one brother, Lambert of Taintor; and two sisters, Mrs John (Grace) Van Wyk of New Sharon and Mrs. Henry (Jeanetta) De Jong of Pella.
