Description	:	Benedict A. "Ben" Liss, 77, of Creston, Nebraska, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Columbus. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church - Shell Creek - with Rev. Peter Jark-Swain officiating. Family interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary at Gass Haney Funeral Home. "Ben" Liss, 77, of Creston, Nebraska, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Columbus. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church - Shell Creek - with Rev. Peter Jark-Swain officiating. Family interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, 12 & 12 Club, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Ben Liss was born July 25, 1936, on the family farm in Platte County, Nebraska, to Edward and Clatilda ( Jaworski) Liss. Ben went to seminary school in Wisconsin. In July 1960, Ben was united in marriage to Mary Zwiener. Ben and Mary had two children Tammy and Richard. On October 30, 1976, Ben was united in marriage to Janet (Loseke) Christensen. Over the years Ben held many jobs, including a motorcycle shop, driving for Purina Feeds, Shupe Brothers Trucking, Gerhold Concrete and finally Greystone Manufacturing where he was a master welder. Ben was a life member of the NRA, a member of the Eagles, and a 40 year member of AA. He enjoyed guns, camping, fishing, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Ben is survived by: Wife – Jan Liss of Creston, NE Daughter – Tammy (Terry) Lewis of Duncan, NE Daughter – Ruth "Harley" Jackson of Lake Charles, LA Grandchildren – Nina (Matt) Bruce, Michael Schaf, Aaron Lewis, Abbie Liss, and Hunter Liss Great Grandchildren – Kendelle, Gabrielle, Taylor, Zachary, Brandon, Trystin, and Aiden Brother – Ed (Patty) Liss of Fullerton, NE Brother – Robert (Peggy) Liss of Aurora, CO Sister- Mary (Jim) Kosek of Genoa, NE Sister – Helena (Rod) Chinn of Columbus, NE His Dog – Doc Ben was preceded in death by: Parents – Edward and Clatilda Liss Son – Richard "Rick" Liss Infant Sister – Helen Liss
