To their union was born 3 children: Jonathan Calley, Mary Burley Calley, and Benjamin Calley Jr. Benjamin settled first with his father; soon after moved to the Blake farm, later occupied by his son. He had united with the 1st Baptist Church, but commenced "preaching a free salvation," much to the grief of the church fathers, as then felt, at the age of 24. To their union was born 3 children: Jonathan Calley, Mary Burley Calley, and Benjamin Calley Jr. Benjamin settled first with his father; soon after moved to the Blake farm, later occupied by his son. He had united with the 1st Baptist Church, but commenced "preaching a free salvation," much to the grief of the church fathers, as then felt, at the age of 24. He organized the Christian Baptist Church at the Chapel continuing there several years. His labors being followed by a reformation at Salisbury Village (now Franklin), he also organized the Christian Church there, and afterwards churches or societies at Hill Centre, Danbury, Andover, and a Warner. He is said to have baptized about 1,000 persons in various powerful revivals of religion. Still residing in Sanbornton, he represented his town in the General Court, 1841-1842. He was one of the marked men of his day, both in an out of his native town; was sick of slow consumption for a year and a half, his health having been feeble at times for years previously, and he longed to rest in Jesus. Rev Ebenezer Fiske, from New Hampshire, preached his funeral sermon, and remarked that "his s brother Calley had done the work of two men in preaching the Gospel."
