Bay, and two brothers, Alfee and Samuel Williams, of Leroy and Mrs. R. A. Smith of Humeston. Their daughter Mrs. McCloud and two children of Hampton, Kansas, were visiting her parents and two sisters at Lineville, Mrs. O. E. Bay and Mrs. J. L. Bay, and two brothers, Alfee and Samuel Williams, of Leroy and Mrs. R. A. Smith of Humeston. As Mrs. McCloud was going to leave for her home Saturday, several of her relatives gathered Friday to wish her good luck on her journey. Those present were: Ophy Coffey and family, Cress Coffey and family, Newt Coffey and family, Mrs. Malcena S Coffey and son Dick, Benjamin C. Coffey , wife and son John, Mrs. P. A. Robinson and son Herman, , and Alfee Williams and wife. Later in the evening James Abel and wife, Ira Porter and wife, and Ed Williams spent the evening with her. This is the first time Mrs. McCloud has visited Iowa for over ten years. On Saturday she started on her journey home and Alva Williams and wife accompanied her as far as Lineville where they will visit for a few days. ******* Humeston New Era May 1927 DEATH OF B.C. COFFEY "Uncle Ben" Coffey, who had spent the winter in Oklahoma, died there near Bixby last Friday; the body was brought back here for burial accompanied by Rea Coffey of Bixby, Ellis of Mounds and John of Stone Bluff, arriving Saturday afternoon. Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Unity church, with Rev. Corts preaching the sermon, and burial was made in Green Bay cemetery. B.C. Coffey was born A.D. 1846, Nov. 24th in Russell County, Kentucky; he departed this life May 20, 1927 at the home of his son Ellis E. in Oklahoma. He was the eldest son of Newton and Martha L Coffey, the eldest son of a family of thirteen children. His parents moved to Illinois in October 1846, settled sixteen miles west of Springfield, lived there until September 1857, then moved to Shelby County, lived there with his parents until March 2, 1865, when he enlisted in the Third Illinois Cavalry Co. C. On returning home he moved to Christian county, Illinois. On Feb 23, 1871 he was united in marriage to Lucy Barbre of Sullivan Co. Indiana; to this union were born three children, two sons and a daughter; Ellis E, Cleveland C. and Lena L. They moved to Indiana March 1, 1873, lived there unitl Sept. 19, 1885, moved back to Christian Co., Ill. This beloved wife and mother was called from this world of sorrow and pain in her home above Dec. 30, 1887. He then was united in marriage to Miss Annie M Barbre, Nov. 28, 1888. They moved to Wayne County, Iowa Sept 16, 1890. To this union was born one son John July 20, 1894. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, four children, twenty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one brother, one sister, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He claimed Christ as his Savior, Dec. 27, 1870, united with the Providence Baptist Church of Christian County Illinois, in May 1871, was baptized by Rev. H Kelley. After moving to Iowa, united with the Unity Baptist Church by letter Feb. 1891. After moving near Cambria he united with the Cambria Baptist Church by letter and remained until called away by death.
