Description	:	Benjamin F. Howes, son of Edward and Sarah Reed Howes, was born in Quincy, Adams county, Iowa, August 21, 1872, and passed away at his home west of Bedford, March 3, 1939 at the age of 66 years, six months and 10 days, having spent his entire life in Adams and Taylor counties. He was one of a family of 14 children, all of whom preceded him in death. Howes, son of Edward and Sarah Reed Howes, was born in Quincy, Adams county, Iowa, August 21, 1872, and passed away at his home west of Bedford, March 3, 1939 at the age of 66 years, six months and 10 days, having spent his entire life in Adams and Taylor counties. He was one of a family of 14 children, all of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Ora Neal on January 16, 1896, and to this union were born three sons and two daughters; Harland of New Market, Dallas of Bedford and Willard of Sheridan, Missouri; Gladys at home, and Beulah May who died in infancy. In 1895 he was converted and joined the Free Methodist church and remained a faithful member until his death. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and daughter, three sons and their wives, 18 grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted in the Free Methodist church at Clarinda, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Elder W.D. Groesbeck, assisted by Rev W.F. Biggerstaff. Burial was in the New Market cemetery.
