Description	:	Benjamin Fountain Thompson, 79, of 912 Hampton Ave., died Thursday at 2 am at a local hospital after several years of declining health and two days serious illness. Mr. Thompson was born in Spartanburg County, a son of the late Oliver Thompson and Docie Jones Thompson. He made his home in Greenville for more than 40 years and for many years engaged in the construction business. He became associated with Steel Heddle Mfg. Read More	Benjamin Fountain Thompson, 79, of 912 Hampton Ave., died Thursday at 2 am at a local hospital after several years of declining health and two days serious illness. Mr. Thompson was born in Spartanburg County, a son of the late Oliver Thompson and Docie Jones Thompson. He made his home in Greenville for more than 40 years and for many years engaged in the construction business. He became associated with Steel Heddle Mfg. Co. in 1945 and was in the eye inspection department at the time of his retirement. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was twice married. His first wife, Mrs. Jayella Jones Thompson died in 1939 and from this marriage three daughters survive: Mrs. J.T. Bates of Troy, Ala., Mrs. J.T. Risley of Oceanside. Calif., and Mrs. H.D. Springfield of Greenville. His second wife, Mrs. Lillie Golden Thompson survives with three step-daughters, Mrs. Nelson Case of New Hope, Pa., Mrs. Mary Cooley of Parkridge, Ill., and Mrs. Lula Schmidt of Pennsylvania; two step-sons, A.P. Metcalf of East Port, Md., and Lewis W. Metcalf of Greenville; four sisters, Mrs. Ophelia Mahaffey, Mrs. Iola Henderson and Mrs. Ozella Bishop all of Greenville, and Mrs. Cora Walker of Asheville; two brothers, R.C. Thompson of Greenville and Jonas Thompson of Woodruff and one grandson. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm at Central Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The body is at The Mackey Mortuary and will be carried to the home at 912 Hampton Ave. Friday at 1:30pm
