Description	:	A long and active legal career was brought to a close Tuesday with the death of Benjamin F. Carr, 69, of near Delphi who had suffered a stroke earlier in the day. Mr. Carr died at his home about three o’clock in the afternoon. Mr. Carr died at his home about three o’clock in the afternoon. A widely- known member of the legal profession in the state of Indiana, the Carroll county attorney was actively engaged in his forty-fifth year of the practice of law. Born January 16. 1874 on a farm near Chalmers in White county, Mr. Carr was the son of Martin Luther and Olive J. Carr. He was one of seven children, only one of whom now survives. Graduating from the Chalmers schools Mr. Carr attended Indiana University and graduated from the Indiana University Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1895 and became active in Republican politics serving as councilman, prosecutor of White county, mayor of Monticello and judge of the Carroll-White circuit court. On January 1, 1918, Carr was elected judge of the Carroll-White circuit and was re-elected in 1924. He served in this capacity until 1927 when the circuit was split and he retained the White county judgeship. In 1929 Carr resigned from the White circuit bench and devoted himself to private practice. Formerly he was associated with the firm of Cartwright, Wason and Carr in Delphi. In Monticello he continued with the finm of Carr, Wason and Love, finally going into business under his own name. Mr. Carr was married to Luella Crowell in 1898 and two daughters were born to this union, Mrs. Amy Crowe of La Grange, Illinois, and Mrs, Helen Vinson of Monticello. Luella Carr died in 1928; and in 1930, Mr. Carr married Maude Davidson. Three children were born to them, all of whom survive their father, Clark, 12; Olive Ann, 10; and Eddie, 8. Other survivors include the widow, the two daughters by the first marriage; a brother, Luther Carr of Monticello, and five grandchildren. Judge Carr was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, member of the Scottish Rite, the York Rite and Knights Templar. Residing in White county until 1930, Carr at that time moved to Carroll county where he lived until 1935 moving back into White county in that year. In 1940 the family returned to this county for permanent residence although Judge Carr maintained his law practice in Monticello. The body was removed from the Grimm and Sons funeral home on Wednesday afternoon to the residence and lay in state at the Monticello Presbyterian church from twelve noon Thursday (today) until 2 o’clock when final rites were held. Members of the bar association stood honorary guard. Rev. Jasper Cox officiated at the services. Rites were also conducted by the Masons. Burial was made in the Riverview cemetery in Monticello.
