Description	:	LURAY, Sept. 23 - - Benjamin Franklin Batman, 93, retired merchant, county and town offical, active churchman and one of the best known residents of Luray, died at his home today after being ill since June. He was the senior partner of the old drygoods firm of Batman and Co., which was in business here for years. He had served as a member of the Luray town council and as deputy treasurer of Page County. Read More	LURAY, Sept. 23 - - Benjamin Franklin Batman, 93, retired merchant, county and town offical, active churchman and one of the best known residents of Luray, died at his home today after being ill since June. He was the senior partner of the old drygoods firm of Batman and Co., which was in business here for years. He had served as a member of the Luray town council and as deputy treasurer of Page County. Mr. Batman was a former member of the Green Hill cemetery board. He served as superintendent of the Main Street Baptist Sunday School and was a deacon in the church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Batman was a son of John and Amanda Fox Batman and lived all of his long and useful life in this community. He was one of the oldest residents and was known by everyone. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Everett Berrey and Clyde Batman of Luray, and James Batman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Webster, Mrs. Blanche Rickard and Mrs. Carrie Cliser of Luray. The body will be taken from the Bradley funeral home to the Batman residence late Saturday. Funeral services will be held from the Batman home Sunday afternoon at three o'clock.
