Description	:	Benjamin Franklin Degaugh was born in Huron County, Ohio, January 3, 1852. Departed this life July 10, 1920, aged 68 years, 6 months and 7 days. At the age of 3 years, he with his parents came to Steuben County, settling on a farm west of Ostego Center. At the age of 12 he was left an orphan, and grew to manhood in the home of his sister Mrs Oliver Dunham. On December 25th, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Mabie. Departed this life July 10, 1920, aged 68 years, 6 months and 7 days. At the age of 3 years, he with his parents came to Steuben County, settling on a farm west of Ostego Center. At the age of 12 he was left an orphan, and grew to manhood in the home of his sister Mrs Oliver Dunham. On December 25th, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Mabie. To this union were born six children, four dying in infancy, a daughter, Mrs Leona Everitt and a son William Lewis, growing to womanhood and manhood, the son proceeding him November 29, 1917 at Tampico, Mexico. In 1878, he with his family moved to Michigan, spending fifteen years working in the timber mills, after which he moved back to Indiana, settling on the farm which he occupied till the death angel, without a moments warning called him. In 1904, he united with the M.E. Church at Alvarado and remained a faithful Christian. He has also been a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge for thirty years. Twenty-seven of those years with the Lodge at Metz. He leaves to mourn their loss, a bereaved wife, one daughter, four grandchildren, an aged brother, and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held from the home at 2 p.m. Monday, Rev. L.W. Kemper of the Fremont M.E. Church officiating, with the Rev. A.F. Uphoff assisting. Interment made in the Teegardin Cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr and Mrs George Mallory, Will Mabie, Mr and Mrs Orville Noffsinger, Mr and Mrs Cramer of Elkhart; Mrs Ella Shank of Lagrange; Mr and Mrs William Mabie of Coldwater, Michigan; Mr and Mrs Ernest Somerlott of Detroit; William Degaugh and daughter Ethel Meyers of Crestline, Ohio, the later arriving too late for the funeral.
