Description	:	Benjamin Franklin Ireland was born in the state of Indiana October 4, 1834, and died at his home one mile south of Anamosa on Tuesday, March 9, from a stroke of paralysis. About four months ago he suffered from paralysis but recovered. This was followed by a stroke last Thursday and another one on Saturday. Read More	Benjamin Franklin Ireland was born in the state of Indiana October 4, 1834, and died at his home one mile south of Anamosa on Tuesday, March 9, from a stroke of paralysis. About four months ago he suffered from paralysis but recovered. This was followed by a stroke last Thursday and another one on Saturday. Mr. Ireland moved to Jones County in 1851 and has resided here ever since with the exception of one year's residence in Mahuska Co. He was married to Catherine Lyons on Jan. 2, 1880. To this union were born eleven children five of whom, with the widow are left to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father. The children remaining are James, Marshall, Robert E., Mrs. Malinda D Parks and Mrs. Pearl Wolf, all of whom live in this vicinity. Again another of the old guard, one who fought for the preservation of his country during the civil war, is removed from among us and gone to his reward with the great army that has gone before. Mr. Ireland enlisted in Co. G., 81st Iowa Volunteer Infantry in August, 1862 and was mustered out in June 1865. No one can say anything against the deceased. He was an honorable, upright gentleman, genial and pleasant to all, one who had friends all over Jones County, friends who will regret his departure and sympathize with the sorrowing relatives in their bereavement. The funeral was held at the home Thursday afternoon at one o'clock, Rev Hughes of Olin officiating. The remains were placed in the vault at Riverside, until such a time as they may be placed in the cemetery at Highland. The pall bearers were Ed Smith, John Snyder, D. M. Hakes, C A Larson, Lewis Rosencraus and John Leaper.
