Jordan was born at Fairbury, Jefferson County, Nebraska, April 8, 1881, and departed this life at his home north of North Platte, Nebraska, June 2, 1925, at the age of 44 years, 1 month and 24 days. In his youth he moved with his parents to Clay County, Nebraska. He was united in marriage with Margaret Hill December 28, 1904, at Ong, Nebraska. Five boys and three girls came to gladden and bless this union all of whom are living. The deceased lived in around Edgar most of his life. In 1922 he moved to North Platte, where the family still resides. One year ago this last May the sickness which terminated in his death began. He spent four months in the hospital in Omaha and a number of months at Fairbury with his cousin Mrs. Anna Gaffney and her husband, Earl. He had been at home about five weeks before his departure. At about the age of nineteen he united with the United Brethren Church, and had been a faithful follower of his master since that time. During his sickness he placed himself in God's hands, and left his case with Him, his prayer being, "God's will, and not ours be done." He was ever patient and kind throughout his long sickness and never complained of his suffering. He belonged to the shop employees' association of the Union Pacific Railroad, and also to the benefit association of the railroad employees. Those left to mourn his going are his wife, five sons, Harold, Orrin, Elmo, Ray, Leslie and three daughters, Mildred, Lucille, and baby Myreta, aged two years; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Overturf, of Edgar Nebraska, three brothers, Charles of Ong, Howard of Omaha, Neb., and Roy of Edgar. beside these there are many relatives and a host of friends who were saddened at his going.
