Read More	HIS JOURNEY FINISHED. Yesterday Morning One of East Palestine's Oldest Citizens Passed Away. After a lingering illness, Mr. Benjamin F. Sheets, one of East Palestine's oldest residents, died at seven o'clock Wednesday morning. The deceased had been failing in health for about eleven months, suffering from dropsy. During the greater part of his illness he was confined to his home, but was able to walk about town at intervals. For many years Mr. Sheets had been a familiar figure in the life of East Palestine, first as an energetic, capable factor in all business and public affairs, later as one on whom advancing years had left only the impress of increased gentleness and a serene beauty of countenance. During his long and useful life, he filled several positions of trust and confidence in the gift of his fellow citizens, serving as member of the council and also as village treasurer. His advice and counsel were always regarded as being very valuable, and seldom was any project undertaken, or enterprise looking towards the advancement of the village encouraged, without Mr. Sheets being first consulted. In politics he was a staunch Republican, and except during his recent illness, was always at the polls from early morning until they closed, working for the success of the party, whose principles he so much loved and admired. Even during his recent illness he took a deep interest in the issues of the campaign just closed, and requested that he might be taken to the polls where he should cast his vote for President elect McKinley, which request was compiled with. Mr. Sheets was a marble cutter by trade, and for many years be was proprietor of the only marble and granite works in East Palestine. He was born in Columbiana November 27th, 1826, and had he lived nine days longer, would have completed the allotted period of three score years and ten. He was married to Jane Davis June 1st., 1852, at Brady's Bend, Pa. Of this union seven children were born, three of whom died in infancy. The surviving members of the family are Mrs. Elias Lentz, Mrs. George B. Alaback and Miss Mell Sheets, of this place, and Mrs. T. B. Evans, of Pittsburgh. For a period of twenty-seven years he was a consistent member of the M. E. church. He was also a charter member of the Masonic lodge of East Palestine, and previous to the organization of the lodge here belonged to the one in Columbiana. The funeral services will be held at the late residence of the deceased at 2 p. m., tomorrow, conducted by Rev. Dr. A. W. Butte pastor of the M.
