Benj. Lockwood Died Suddenly Well Known Barnes County Citizen Expired at 7 O'Clock Last Evening After Spending the Day Threshing—Man of a Rare Sunny Disposition Yesterday evening at 7 o'clock Benj. Lockwood, the well known farmer residing 14 miles southeast of the city on Major Black's farm, died very suddenly. He had been in the usual health and yesterday worked in the field, the threshers being on the farm. Nothing unusual was known in his action nor did he complain of feeling unwell. About 7 o'clock he exclaimed. "My head feels so funny," and dropped back dead. It is not known what caused death but it was instantaneous. The funeral will occur tomorrow at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church, the Rev. Anderson officiating. Benjamin Lockwood was born August 8, 1843 in the town of Lisbon, St. Lawrence County, N. Y. He enlisted in 1862 in the 106 N. Y. volunteers and served until the close of the war. He came to North Dakota nearly a quarter of a century ago and has been one of the best known men of the county since. He leaves a family consisting of a wife and a daughter at Coldwater. He was twice married, his first wife having died some years ago. He was a hard working, honest and cheerfully inclined man.
