Description	:	Funeral services were held Wednesday at Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church for Benjamin VanLoh, who died on Jan. 28, 2008. Officiating at the service was Rev. David Young. Organist was Jamie Strasser and vocalists were Alan and Gloria Rops. Honorary pallbearers included Brenda Hodge, Michelle Kapaun, Brooke Maassen, Cayleigh VanLoh, Benjamin VanLoh, Bayelle Hodge, Cassidy Hodge, Eddie Hodge, Collin Richarz, Seth Richarz, and Kyle Maassen. Benjamin VanLoh was born on a farm near Lennox, SD on Oct. 30, 1907, the son of Hero and Anna (Burma) VanLoh. He attended rural school and Lennox public school through the 8th grade. On Dec. 8,1936 he was united in marriage to Verna Nelson at Tea. They farmed near Worthing, three and one-half miles east of Lennox their entire married life. His wife died Apr. 5, 1992, ending a marriage of over 55 years. Ben continued to live on the farm until he was 98 years old. He then moved to War Enterprise, formerly K-Nop Assisted Living Center in Sioux Falls. Ben was a member of Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. He and Verna enjoyed camping and traveling. He was self-taught at old clock repair and liked fixing things. He also enjoyed attending area fairs. Besides his parents and his wife, Verna, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Ben suffered a heart attack on Jan. 4 and then became a resident of the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. He died there early Monday morning, Jan. 28, 2008. He attained the age of 100 years, two months and 28 days. Grateful for having shared his life are his three children: Ronald VanLoh and his wife, Mary, Larry Van Loh and Audrey Kapaun and her husband, Douglas, all of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
