Dennis, 75, died Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.L. George, Blosson Street, quite suddenly after a long period of declining health. Mr. Dennis was born June 17, 1856 near Lake City and spent the greater part of his life in South Carolina. He was married in 1876 to the former Miss Henrietta Jordan. He was a devoted member of Green Street Methodist Church and had lived in Columbia since the close of the Spanish-American War. He was a retired machinist, having been connected with the Columbia mills for many years. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock this morning at the Green Street Methodist Church with the Rev. H.C. Ritter, pastor, the Rev. T.W. Munnerlyn, pastor of Shandon Methodist Church, and the Rev. A.B. Kennedy, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in charge. Interment will be in Casselman Cemetery at Lake City. The following, all members of the Men's Business Club of Columbia, will serve as honorary pallbearers: W.S. Gardner, C.H. Schirmer, Clarence Richards and J.B. Horton. Active pallbearers will be six grandsons: Andrew George, Lindsay Young, Maxey Powell, Edward Mitchell, Robert Mitchell and A.T. Brown. Besides his widow he is survived by one son, E.T. Dennis; six daughters, Mrs. A. Lee George, Mrs. J.P. Young, Mrs. W.B. Mitchell, Mrs. A.T. Brown, all of Columbia. Mrs. B.H. Wilson of Great Falls, and Mrs. W.P. Powell of Charlotte and 32 grandchildren.
