Description	:	Bentley Thomas Rouse, 74, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2022, surrounded by his family. Mr. Rouse, a native of Pitt County, was the son of the late Richard Earl Rouse and Roberta Bowen Rouse. He attended Winterville HS and then served in the U. S. Army for eight years. A longtime member of Friendship Original Free Will Baptist Church,... Read More	Bentley Thomas Rouse, 74, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2022, surrounded by his family. Mr. Rouse, a native of Pitt County, was the son of the late Richard Earl Rouse and Roberta Bowen Rouse. He attended Winterville HS and then served in the U. S. Army for eight years. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was stationed in Korea and the Thailand Gulf during the Vietnam Conflict. He was also at Fort Bragg where he was in the 82nd Airborne Division. A longtime member of Friendship Original Free Will Baptist Church, he sang in the choir, was a member of the Layman's League and served as President of the Senior Adult Group. Engaged in residential and commercial construction, he worked with many contractors in Pitt and the surrounding counties. Bentley was outgoing and comical; he truly never met a stranger. On most days he ate his breakfast at Ballard's Grill, where he made many friends and kept everyone entertained. A helpful person, his passion was to lend a hand to whoever was in need. He enjoyed working with wood projects and could often be found tinkering in his barn. He took great pleasure in all outside activities including mowing his grass. He especially liked going on outings with his church family. Bentley adored his family and the time that he spent with them. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Roy Earl Rouse and Betty Burney Rouse. Surviving are his wife of 39 years; four children; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a nephew. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 – 8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friendship OFWB Church, 2585 Friendship Church Road, Farmville, NC 27828. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 am in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel by his pastor, Rev. John Hill and Rev. Harry Grubbs. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park.
