Description	:	"Berdell "Bud" O. Hoge, 83, of Scribner died Monday, June 11, 2005, at Fremont Area Medical Center. He was born Jan. 19, 1922, on the family farm in rural Scribner to George Hoge and Martha "Kurz" Hoge. He attended Trinity Lutheran School in rural Scribner. He was a lifelong farmer in the Scribner area. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1946 until May 1947 between World War II and the Korean War. Read More	"Berdell "Bud" O. Hoge, 83, of Scribner died Monday, June 11, 2005, at Fremont Area Medical Center. He was born Jan. 19, 1922, on the family farm in rural Scribner to George Hoge and Martha "Kurz" Hoge. He attended Trinity Lutheran School in rural Scribner. He was a lifelong farmer in the Scribner area. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1946 until May 1947 between World War II and the Korean War. He served for seven months in Korea with the 340th Engineering Construction Battalion, working on road construction jobs as a construction machine operator. He received a WW II Victory Medal and an Army of Occupation Medal-Japan. Hoge worked for the Scribner Co-op for about five years after he returned from the service from 1947-52. He was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a current member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. He served on the District 24 School Board before it was closed. He was involved in a Neighborhood Card Club, playing pitch with the group as recently as last week. He married Irene Lange on Aug. 15, 1950, in Salt Lake City. Survivors include: his wife, Irene of Scribner; a son, Dean (and wife, Becky) of Scribner; a daughter, Brenda Hoge of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Vernice Tonjes of Scribner; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers, one of whom died in infancy. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner with the Rev. Bruce Schut officiating. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner with family greeting 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery in rural Scribner with military graveside services conducted by Scribner American Legion Post 121. Memorials have been established to Scribner Rescue Squad and Trinity Cemetery." Fremont Tribune, Fremont, Nebraska.
