Mari was the daughter of Jens Olson Vedvik (1817-1897) and Marta Larsdatter Myre (1824-1915). Mari had emigrated from Norway with her family in 1861. Four children were born to Berge and Mari in Olive Township: Jens Johan (b. 26 Jul 1873), Bertha Martha* (b. 19 Sep 1877), Nils Olai** (b. 30 Dec 1878) and Berge Martin (b. 22 Oct 1882). Berge's widow married Halvor Thorsen Vågen (1835-1905) on 15 Dec 1886 in Olive Township. Her tombstone in Our Savior's (Kvindherred) Cemetery is named Berte Martine. *Also known as Eli.
