Description	:	Graveside services for Berle Williams, 67, of Knoxville, who passed away on June 2 in Des Moines, were held June 5 at Zion Cemetery near Pershing. Elder Arthur Nichols officiated at the service. Pallbearers were Le Roy De Heer, Bill De Raad, Don Green, Raymond Jones, Emil Kauzlarich, Bob Mavin and Tom McVey. He was the son of Mayo and Sylvia Whitlatch Williams. Berle was one of five children born to this union. He attended Attica school and left school to join the Army in October of 1942. He was stationed in France. Berle received the following decorations and citations; European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Victory Medal, American Theatre Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. Berle was also stationed in Germany prior to his discharge in August of 1946. After leaving the armed services, Berle became an over-the-road truck driver and hauled mainly new furniture from Des Moines to all parts of the country. Berle was married to Peggy Gibbons and a daughter, Sherry, was born to this union. Those family members preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Merle, and a sister, Macil. His surviving family members include a sister, La Verne McMillen of Knoxville; a brother, Leland Williams of Pleasantville; his daughter, Sherry O'Boyle of Carlisle and one grandchild, Christine. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends. Knoxville Journal-Express June 12, 1991
