Description	:	Berle L. Meyers Jr., 77, of Hecla, SD passed away on January 30th, 2021 at Avera St. Lukes, Aberdeen, SD. He was born on October 12, 1943 in Britton, SD to Berle and LaVonne (Bushby) Meyers. He attended school at Hecla, SD, graduating from Hecla High School in 1961. He joined the Army after graduation where he spent three years as a Radio Communications Specialist. Berle was stationed in Germany for two of those three years. Meyers Jr., 77, of Hecla, SD passed away on January 30th, 2021 at Avera St. Lukes, Aberdeen, SD. He was born on October 12, 1943 in Britton, SD to Berle and LaVonne (Bushby) Meyers. He attended school at Hecla, SD, graduating from Hecla High School in 1961. He joined the Army after graduation where he spent three years as a Radio Communications Specialist. Berle was stationed in Germany for two of those three years. In 1968, he married Charlotte Ruden of Groton, SD. Berle was employed with the US Fish and Wildlife Service at Sand Lake National Wildlife Refuge in 1969. He worked there as a heavy equipment operator and a seasonal Law Enforcement Officer for several years, retiring in 2009. Berle loved operating heavy equipment, and continued running an excavator after retirement for Zastrows up to the time of his passing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends at their cabin on Lake Oahe. He is survived by his wife Charlotte; sons Chad (Heidi) Meyers and Corey (Tara) Meyers; three grandchildren, and grand dogs; his sister, Faye German; and brother Wayne (Sue) Meyers. Berle was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary Jane. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, with Pastor Rodney Ulmer officiating. Masks are required for anyone in attendance.
