He was born Nov. 27, 1926 at Blue Grass and was a son of the late Charles W. and Bonnie Harold Botkin. On April 15,1961, he married Leona Charlotte Hartman of Monterey, who survives. On April 15,1961, he married Leona Charlotte Hartman of Monterey, who survives. He was a member of Forks of the Water United Brethren Church. He worked for Mullenax Lumber Co. and Franklin Enterprises for 20 years. He retired from the Highland County Landfill. Surviving in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Bonnie Ella Botkin, Diana Elizabeth Botkin and Jenny Lou Botkin, all of Monterey; and a son, Berlie M. Botkin, Jr. of Monterey. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. David Schill and the Rev. Jerry Ginn. Burial was in Blue Grass Cemetery. Obituary for Leona Botkin Leona H. Botkin, 66, of Monterey, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Bath Community Hospital. She was born March 18, 1943 in Franklin, W.Va., a daughter of the late Robert Paul and Ella C. Lambert Hartman. Mrs. Botkin was a homemaker and had worked at Aileen Inc. She was a member of Hiner Church of the Brethren and an honorary member and past president of Stonewall Ruritan Club. She loved to babysit for her granddaughter, Josey. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Berlie May Botkin on Nov. 22, 1990 and her second husband, Roger Dale Botkin, on March 11, 2009. She was also predeceased by a brother, Theodore Hartman; and two infant brothers. She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie and Diana Botkin, both of Monterey, and Jenny Botkin and Buckner Bolling of Bolar; a son, Berlie Jr. and wife Sherry Botkin of Scottsville; five grandchildren, Josey Bolling, Ellie, Talan, Karsyn and Cooper Botkin; two sisters, Diane and husband Jimmy Waybright of Franklin, W.Va. and Christine and Ronnie Bowers of Sugar Grove, W.Va.; and six brothers, Bobby Hartman, Luther and wife Ann Hartman, and Dan Hartman, all of Franklin, W.Va., David and Debbie Hartman of Hinton, Henry and Dawn Hartman of Grottoes, and William and Retha Hartman of Tennessee. A funeral service was conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Garold Senger and the Rev. Jack Tucker officiating. Burial was in Blue Grass Cemetery.
