He attended Guardian Angels School in West Point and worked for his father on the family farm until January 7, 1953, when he was called to serve his country in the Army, during the Korean War. Read More	Bernard Arnold Spenner was born May 25, 1929, to Ignatius and Anna (Risse) Spenner on the family farm near West Point, Nebraska. He passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years. He attended Guardian Angels School in West Point and worked for his father on the family farm until January 7, 1953, when he was called to serve his country in the Army, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged November 23, 1954. He then worked as a hired hand. On April 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to Eva Sok at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tekamah. Together they raised four children. Bernard continued crop farming west of Tekamah, where he raised feeder pigs and background cattle until he retired in March of 1999. His great loves in life were faith, family, friends, farming and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Joseph, Henry, Rev. Ignatius and Rev. Conrad, Paul, Ferdinand; six sisters, Catherine Spenner, Anna Steffen, Sister Johnitta Spenner, Sister Marie Paula Spenner, Sister Leovigild Spenner, Frances Bockholt ; two half-sisters, Theresa and Mary Gentrup. Survivors include his wife, Eva of Tekamah; two sons, Joseph of Middleburg, FL, David of Bellevue, NE; two daughters, Lou (Bill) Calhoon of Stanton, NE, Donna Spenner of Tekamah; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Mathilda Zikmund of Omaha, NE, Dorothy Steffen of Yankton, SD, Sister Ann Spenner of Manitowoc, WI; many nieces and nephews.
