His memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Faith Baptist Fellowship Church. Bernie Boldt was born on June 16, 1928 in Marion, SD to Henry and Helena (Becker) Boldt. On November 25, 1946 Bernie enlisted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1948. On September 10, 1950, he married the love of his life, Joyce Berg in Marion, SD. The couple moved to Sioux Falls in 1953 when Bernie began working for West Sioux Grocery. He worked there until 1956. At that time, he began his career with Sunshine Foods. He was employed with Sunshine until 1977. In 1977, the Boldt family moved to Pine Bluffs, Wyoming where he managed the coop grocery store. They returned to Sioux Falls and Bernie worked in the maintenance department at Dow Rummel Village until his retirement. Bernie was a devoted member of the Faith Baptist Fellowship Church in Sioux Falls. Memorials are preferred to the KNWC Christian radio station in Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Larsen and Susie Symes; one brother, Jake Boldt and one grandson, Marine Lance Corporal, Jeremy Bohlman.
