Born June 13 1922, in Emmitsburg, he was a son of the late Bernard Joseph and Mary Elder Ott Sr. He was a direct descendant of the Elders family, the first family to come to Emmitsburg in 1731. Read More	Mr. Bernard Joseph "Bud" Ott Jr., 73, of Emmitsburg, died of cancer Sunday, Jun 25, at home. He was the husband of Evelyn Moose Ott, his wife of 53 years. Born June 13 1922, in Emmitsburg, he was a son of the late Bernard Joseph and Mary Elder Ott Sr. He was a direct descendant of the Elders family, the first family to come to Emmitsburg in 1731. Mr. Ott was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of Emmitsburg. He was associated with VFW Post 6658 of Emmitsburg and American Legion, Francis X. Elder Post 121 of Emmitsburg for 50 years. He was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus Brute Council 1860 of Emmitsburg, and a member of the Mryland State Licensed Beverage Association. He served as a master sergeant in the Army's Anti-Aircraft Division during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star for outstanding service. He stayed in contact with the 456 Battalion through annual reunions. Surviving in addition to his wife are five sons, Bernard J. Ott III of Emmitsburg, Patrick E. Ott of Hollywood, Fla. David M. Ott of Emmitsburg, Robert P. Ott of Emmitsburg and Richard J. Ott of Delray Beach, Fla.; four daughters, Susan M. Glass of Emmitsburg, Christine T. Wilson of Emmitsburg, Catherine L. Ott of Emmitsburg and Rosalie A. Bittle of Carroll Valley, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothrs, George S. Ott of Gettysburg, Pa., and Joseph A. Ott of Emmitsburg. Mr. Ott was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Eiker, Mary Pryor and Barbara James, and two brother, William Ott and Thomas Ott Sr. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 9p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at the Skiles Funeral Home in Emmitsburg, where a Chrstian wake service will be at 8 p.m.Tuesday. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 28 with the family meeting at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go to St. Joseh's Roman Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. The Rev. Joseph Stahura will b the principal celebrant. Interment will be in the new St. Joseph Cemetery, Emmitsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mde to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Ronald Fearerofficiating. Interment was in EmmitsburgMemorial Cemetery.
