Description	:	Funeral services for Bernard Hasenpflug, 77, Creighton were held May 6 at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton. Revs. Koni Purdy Purscell and Kenneth Purscell officiated with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton. Military honors were given by VFW Post 1151. Pallbearers were Jim Farnik, Mike Kurcz, Dale DeyErmand, Charles Hoferer, Galen Hoferer and Gary Ralston. Honorary pallbearers were Lee George, Joe Radosti, Joe Manion, Bernard Raff, Lester Dietz, Tony Malishewski, Jim Regan, Bob Pearson, Harry Lafrenz, Al Bauerly, Ray McInerney, Lloyd Ferris and Jerry Homan. He died at Lundberg Memorial Hospital on May 3. Bernard Hasenpflug was born June 25, 1917 at Creighton to Fred and Ella (Scheinost) Hasenpflug. He married Clara Kulhanek of Verdigre on May 15, 1940. He entered the Army Air Force on February 11, 1941, where he served as a Transportation Chief in the 29th Air Service Group of the 314 Bombardment Wing commanded by General Carl Spatz on the Island of Guam. While serving in this capacity, he had the unique honor of being actor Ronald Reagan's driver during the filming of a movie. He served 47 months and was honorably discharged on December 1, 1945 at Fort Logan, CO. He worked in several filling stations in Creighton before buying one of his own. Later, he and his wife, along with his father, purchased Farmers Hardware in Creighton, which they operated for 32 years. Survivors include his wife, Clara; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Gwen) Melcher; two grandchildren and three brothers, Marvin of Creighton and Don and Odell, both of Omaha.
