He was born Oct. 5, 1946, in Parsons, the son of Carl and Garnett Volmer Boaz. He graduated from St. Paul High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a farmer and for Crawford County. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, St. Paul. He was also a member of the Gard Lee Post No. 292 of the American Legion in Walnut. Survivors include two sons, Bernie Boaz of St. Paul, and Terry Boaz of Joplin, Mo.; a daughter, Kim Boaz of Orlando, Fla.; a step-son, Travis Nibarger of Ohio; his mother, Garnett Boaz, St. Paul; a brother, Bill Boaz of Chanute; six sisters, Carolyn Lero of Lee's Summit, Mo., Patsy Pientka of Denver, Sharon Wood of Edmond, Okla.; Bobbie Breck of South Carolina, Mary Tinsley of Olathe, and Teresa Grosdidier of St. Paul; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Boaz; a brother, Carl Boaz Jr.; a sister, Edna "Eddie" Brown; and six infant brothers and sisters. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, June 11, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Walnut, led by Father Andrew Hofer. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Walnut.
