Read More	Bernell Laverne Boles January 16, 1940 - July 25, 2019 (age 79) Bernell Laverne Boles, age 79, of Grand River, Iowa, the son of Mansel Lavon and Vera Ellen (West) Boles, was born January 16, 1940, at Osceola, Iowa. He died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Bernell grew up in Grand River and graduated from Grand River High School in 1958. He started his young adulthood working construction in Davenport and then Des Moines, Iowa before moving back to Grand River to work as a farm hand. He loved farming and would rather work the ground than eat, or so it seemed. On June 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Peggy Louise Smith in Grand River. They were blessed with three children, twins, Raydean and Joleen, and Penny. Over the years, the family lived in many places in Iowa as Bernell farmed. In early years Bernell loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He was a member of the Grand River Lions Club and served on the Grand River Volunteer Fire Department. He loved being a part of the Grand River community. He always drove John Deere machinery and Chevy trucks. He listened to country western music and watched western movies. He enjoyed trying to play many different string instruments over the years. Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister-in-law, Connie Boles. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Peggy Boles of Grand River; children, Raydean and Deanne Boles of Murray, Iowa, Joleen and Rick Rush of Leon, Iowa, and Penny and Robert Fulton of La Feria, Texas; two grandsons, Dustin and Amie Boles and Michael Boles; two great grandchildren, Wendie Boles and Lonnie Boles; brother, Garry Boles of Grand River; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends. A visitation will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa on Monday, July 29, 2019, beginning at 1 p.m. with Family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa at a later date. www.sladefuneralhome.com
