Necrological Report of Rev. B. R. Huecker
To what we have thus furnished, we add a few words in regard to the Rev. B. R. Huecker, a minister who was acting as a stated supply of the Third Reformed Church in Lennox, South Dakota. That church had given him a call in January of this year [1894], and he was about to be received by the Classis, when on the first of April [Apr. 1, 1894] he was called away to his final rest. He was born in Germany, February 25, 1843, and came to New York City in 1867. He entered the ministry in 1869 in the Reformed Church in the United States. He had several pastorates in that denomination, the last being at Denver, Colorado. The Rev. Mr. Harmeling writes: "He was one of those amiable characters that you love and trust at once," and again, "the members of the Third Church loved and esteemed him as a powerful preacher of the Word, and a kind hearted Chrisian gentlemen." This is all that has come to us of one who was stricken down just as he was entering on the work of the Master in our Western field.

Funeral notice
John Huecker, of Ramona, spent the night in this city [Madison, SD] returning home from Lennox, S. D., where he has just buried his father who died of pneumonia a week ago to-day. Mr. Huecker, Sr., will be remembered as an elderly clergyman who visited his son here last winter and preached to the German congregations during revival. His illness was short, having taken sick Good Friday. Miss Huecker of the Normal school accompanied her brother to Lennox but remains there with her mother until Tuesday [Apr. 10, 1894].
