Bernice was born March 27, 1926 to Edward and Bertha (Suhr) Bertschinger north of Creighton. Bernice attended school at Bazile Mills, Cemma, Clay Center all in Nebraska and graduated from Creighton (NE.) High School in 1945. She was baptize at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, NE. and confirmed at Zion Lutheran in Creighton, NE. and currently a member at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Norfolk, NE. Bernice married Kenneth Haack in the fall of 1945. To this union daughter, Sandra was born and son, Alfred Kenneth Haack who died shortly after birth. They farmed west of Center, NE. and moved into Center, NE. in 1955. Bernice taught at Plum Valley School, Sparta School, Center and Bloomfield, all in Knox County, Nebraka. In 1966 she married Eldon "Woody" Meredith. Later in years they moved to Norfolk and she began working for The Department of Health and Human Services Office in Norfolk, NE. She retired at the age of 65. She spent her retirement years with her beloved pet Muffy, tending her flowers, traveling in the camper with Woody, playing Euchre with friends, spending time with loved ones at family gatherings and enjoying a pepperoni personal pan pizza frequently. Bernice is survived by: daughter, Sandra and husband Larry Beltz of Norfolk, NE.; grandsons, Brian (Lisa) Beltz, Jay (Heidi) Beltz, seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; step sons, Robert (Judy) Meredith, John Meredith and Dan (Annette) Meredith; seven step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren,. Bernice was preceded in death by: parents; husbands, Kenneth Haack and Elwood "Woody" Meredith; son, Alfred Kenneth Haack; brother, Alfred Bertschinger; great grandchild, two step grandchildren and 1 step grandchild. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
