Description	:	Bernice Clausing, 86, of rural Waverly, Iowa, died on Tuesday afternoon, November 24, 2009, at the Waverly Health Center. Bernice was born on October 31, 1923, in rural Tripoli, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Mable (Biermann) Brase. She was baptized on November 13, 1923 at St. Paul Lutheran-Siegel, rural Tripoli and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at Grace Lutheran in Tripoli. She graduated from the Tripoli High School in 1941. Read More	Bernice Clausing, 86, of rural Waverly, Iowa, died on Tuesday afternoon, November 24, 2009, at the Waverly Health Center. Bernice was born on October 31, 1923, in rural Tripoli, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Mable (Biermann) Brase. She was baptized on November 13, 1923 at St. Paul Lutheran-Siegel, rural Tripoli and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at Grace Lutheran in Tripoli. She graduated from the Tripoli High School in 1941. She was the Bremer County 4-H Dairy Queen in 1942. Bernice worked at the Gas Ration office in Tripoli and later Kramer Produce. On June 25, 1944, Bernice was united in marriage to Elmer Clausing at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. She worked at the Carriage House from 1966 until 1980 and later cared for her grandchildren. She retired in 1980. Bernice was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Waverly and also the St. John Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing bridge, 500, and camping. She loved to cook for her family. Bernice is survived by her husband, Elmer Clausing of Waverly, Iowa; her two sons and their wives, Rev. Dean (Susan) Clausing of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Craig (Jean) Clausing of Waverly, Iowa; four grandchildren, David (Evelyn) Clausing, Christine (Aaron) Koch, Cody Clausing and Cara Clausing; two great grandchildren, Noah and Sam Koch; one brother, Lavern (Jeanette) Brase of Readlyn, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Vernon Wikner of New Hampton, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Darlys (Virgil) Meswarb of Waverly, Iowa. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Bernita Wikner. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly, with Pastor Matthew Versemann officiating. Following the church service Bernice will be cremated and burial of her cremains will be held at later date in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or to the Tripoli Nursing Home
