On May 24, 1943, she married Charlie Edson in Fremont. He died in 1993.She attended rural school and was graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1933 and received a general education teaching certificate. In 1942, she was granted a two-year college diploma. She earned her bachelor of arts degree from Kearney State College in elementary education and library science in 1971. She taught for 24 years in Buffalo County school districts and later served as librarian for the Pleasanton Public School. She and Charlie farmed southeast of Pleasaton. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Beverly and Linda. They moved to Pleasanton in 1975 and retired the following year. They enjoyed traveling. In her retirement she enjoyed crafts, especially decorating Easter eggs, and researching family genealogy.Bernice was honored for 70-plus years of membership in the Pleasanton United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Pleasanton United Methodist Women before moving to Homestead Assisted Living in Kearney, followed by her move to the Minden nursing home. She enjoyed the Major's Neighborhood Extension Club and attending Kearney Area Retired Teachers Association meetings. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Lintz Fleming. Memorials are suggested to the church or AseraCare Hospice. ------------------
